I have worked through a lot of the bad feelings I had for Michael's grandparents last week. We had a pretty good weekend. I got a super cute hair cut from a new stylist. She may be a keeper. I bought the best vacuum ever. Then we went to work Monday and everything fell apart.
Michael came home and found the back door all the way open, a window broken, our valuables and other questionable items missing and the house ransacked.
I haven't been able to update from home since my new monitor was one of the stolen things, although they left my computer and keyboard etc, they just took the monitor and the mouse. WTF. They also stole all the food from the freezer. I didn't know how valuable those hungry man chicken pot pies or Ben and Jerry ice cream pints are.
Since that evening the week has been a blur.
We had to wait almost 3 hours for the police to arrive.
The fingerprinting guy was supposed to come that night, he didn't show so we had to call back in the morning to try and set something up and were told to call back after 2 pm.
We went and purchased window locks from home depot.
We spoke with the property management and we basically found they don't give a fuck and "they are not required to provide a sense of security". So we found out the specifics on how we can get out of our lease (which doesn't expire until March).
We both had sleepless nights, waking for each and every sound, and we live off a hella busy street so yeah, no sleep.
Then we decided we needed to get out of the city.
We decided that living in an apartment is not the safest place to be so we spoke with a realtor friend of Michael's dad and we spent all day yesterday looking at houses.
We spoke to the mortgage company and are working out the specifics but I think we'll be moving out to the 'burbs.
We have been looking in a very safe area outside Houston which is quickly and quietly becoming the place to be and raise a family. We will each have a heck of a commute to work but are thinking of ways to carpool either with each other or co-workers.
We'll have to see what happens, but if this keeps flying like it is, we will be moving really soon. Not too far from where I think you live, Lizard.
